March 3, Amma’s Birthday, is commemorated not only as a moment of celebration, but as a day devoted to service and compassion for the underprivileged. What was once observed as ‘The Son’s Day’ gradually evolved into ‘The Day of the Mother’, reflecting values of care, responsibility, and social commitment.
Marking this occasion, Makkal Nalapani undertakes wide-ranging welfare programmes aimed at supporting economically disadvantaged sections of society. Free marriages are organised without distinction of caste or creed. In addition, livelihood and social assistance is extended through the distribution of tricycles, sewing machines, iron boxes, bicycles, educational materials, household essentials, and other need-based support. Several welfare projects are also implemented in the areas of education, healthcare, and livelihood development, enabling beneficiaries to achieve self-reliance and live with dignity and self-respect.
